Notes: "The Trill Planimeter was a copy of an earlier Lippincott design, which Trill bought the rights to. In practice it works like all the other, similar planimeters that measure the lateral travel of a sharp-edged wheel. This is the critical difference between these hybrid designs and true polar planimeters. The polar planimeter measures the rotation of the wheel and ignores side to side slippage. "
