Notes: "This appears to be an Ansler Type 4 planimeter from after 1875, when Stanley took over from Elliott as the sole reselling agent for Amsler in the UK. The pole arm, frame, and weight are brass, but the tracing arm is German silver, or possibly nickel plated brass. Both the vernier and multiplier wheel are metal, probably German silver, not plastic. The serial number is 8620, which is not extremely early, but early enough that it probably dates from the late 1870s."
