Polar | Bowen Polar Planimeter | Bowen | USA | Painted brass | ca. 1950's | N/A | General area measurement |
Notes: "This is a relatively simple polar planimeter, with a few unusual features. The pole arm weight is permanently attached to the pole arm, the hinge between the pole and tracing arms is simple but unusual, the worm gear on the tracing wheel shaft is both unusually large in diameter and has several more ""threads"" than necessary to engage the gear on the multiplier wheel shaft. The celluloid parts have aged to a deep yellow (almost orange) color, and the whole planimeter appears to be brass with black crackle finish paint, except for the top of the pole arm where the paint has been removed and ""FULTON-F1"" has been scratched into the arm. Very unusual."
